On May 28th, ERNACT hosted the Data2SustainDigital-driven Sustainable Tourism Webinar, where experts explored how digital technologies can advance sustainable tourism.
Here are the key highlights:
- Dr. James Hanrahan from Atlantic Technological University (ATU) discussed the use of digital tools in the Atlantic Sustainable Tourism Observatory. The Sustainable Tourism Observatory at ATU (STORY@ATU) research group collaborates across the three ATU campuses to address challenges in the Irish tourism industry. Their goal is to build partnerships with local authorities, state agencies, enterprises, and communities, both nationally and internationally, to find global solutions.
- Dolores Ordoñez director of AnySolution presented innovative solutions related to data, technology, and circularity at the Balearic Islands Digital Innovation Hub (DIHBAI TUR). The DIHBAI-TUR focuses on digital transformation for companies in the Balearic Islands (Spain). It leverages Artificial Intelligence to enhance competitiveness and collaborates with local entities and service providers to create a robust innovation ecosystem. She also discussed the D3HUB, an EU Competence Centre supporting data management in tourism destinations.
- Jose Manuel San Emeterio, Programme Manager at ERNACT highlighted EU-funded projects like TIDE and The Public Link, showcasing how Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality can enhance local history and culture.
- Sarah Huilizen from DIVA EDIH, the European Digital Innovation Hub in the Pays de la Loire region (France), that supports SMEs in their digital transformation. It offers services related to green and human-centered Artificial Intelligence, data, and robotics. During her presentation Sarah Huilizen shared insights on developing digital indicators for tourism in Saint-Nazaire Renversante.
