Who is this Service for?

About

This service utilises a Flux Hexa laser cutter at ATU MakerSpace to provide high-precision prototyping solutions. The Flux Hexa is a powerful CO₂ laser cutting and engraving machine, featuring a 60W laser tube, a 730 x 410 mm working area, and advanced autofocus capabilities. It supports a wide range of materials, including acrylic, wood, leather, fabric, and certain pre-treated metals.

What to Expect

Example: A company developing custom enclosures for electronic devices requires accurately cut and engraved panels. The laser cutter enables fast iterations and precision branding.

Using the laser cutter, it’s possible to rapidly produce intricate designs for prototyping, signage, or artistic projects, significantly reducing turnaround time compared to traditional methods.

Target Sectors

All SME sectors, with a particular focus on product design, manufacturing, and the creative industries.

What to Expect

This service begins with a half-day on-site consultation at ATU MakerSpace in Sligo to demonstrate the Flux Hexa’s capabilities, followed by a requirements discussion.

A short document outlining the tasks and expected outcomes will be provided. Each project typically includes file preparation, laser setup, and optional post-processing.

Cutting and engraving will be completed within two days, subject to material availability.

Takeaway

You will receive a demonstration and understanding of laser cutting and engraving. The main output will include precisely cut and engraved prototype components to support your design and production process.
